Names marked as Device/Group
With every Presence Board account you can access a Private Board which allows you to manage employee and visitor presence in your organisation.
Owners and Administrators of a Premium Subscription are also enabled to add and edit names in the Cloud Board, and there they can specify another type of these entries, that identifies them as Device/Group accounts.
The Device/Group names will never be displayed on the board, because they are meant to offer new features that are only available with Cloud-Sync:
Assign people for being part of a group
Employees who have an account linked to a “regular” name are enabled to see the Device/Group names as groups that can be subscribed at any time.
These subscriptions might also be made by any account with administrative privileges, which can eventually mark specific persons as “manager” for any group.
This feature allows managers to access the time reports of people which are part of their groups.
Public facing in-out boards
The main purpose of any name marked as Device/Group is to publish a public facing in-out board. Once you have assigned an email address to it, you need a new account registered with the same address that will be linked to your Premium Subscription using Cloud-Sync (see How to enable Cloud-Sync and Providing a public-facing board for your employees for more information).
Once logged in with the new account, the board view will allow people to check in and out by touching their name or, if you enabled the No-Touch function (No-Touch punching: automatic check in and out with iBeacons) just by carrying their phone.
Any board accessed with a Device/Group account can be configured to display any registered name or, if desired, only the ones being part of that specific group.
Enable additional email addresses for the Whereabouts
You may also want just to provide an additional email address for your employees, as a destination for anytime they send a Whereabouts message. In this case, you don’t even need to have a specific Presence Board account linked to that name.
Provide access to accounts not linked with Clound-Sync
Sometimes it’s required to provide external accounts (not linked with Cloud-Sync) a limited access to your subscription, as if they were regular Device accounts. We covered that possibility here: Access multiple subscriptions through the quick-access list.
